Review regularly

Asthma should be reviewed regularly and frequently until optimum asthma control has been achieved.

  • Assessment of asthma control should include measurement of lung function as well as questioning about recent symptoms. The initial review needs to be undertaken within a few days to few weeks, depending on severity of presenting symptoms.
  • It is important to check adherence, demonstrate and review correct use of the medication delivery device(s), assess adverse effects and identify trigger factors.

For more information on review of asthma, see Ongoing care.
