RACGP and NAC Asthma Research Award
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and National Asthma Council Australia (NAC) Asthma Research Award was created to encourage research into asthma.
Funded by the NAC to the value of $500, the award has been offered annually since 2002.
The RACGP and NAC Asthma Research Award is awarded to the best presenter of an asthma-related abstract or poster at the RACGP Annual Scientific Convention.
Independent representatives from the RACGP National Standing Committee–Research and the NAC GP Asthma Group judge the award, which is presented during the RACGP Annual Scientific Convention.

The winner of the 2005 RACGP and NAC Asthma Research Award was Dr Fay Johnston from the Menzies School of Health Research, Northern Territory.
Her winning presentation was: Is the tropical dry season smoke haze a health hazard for people with asthma?

The winner of the 2004 RACGP and NAC Asthma Research Award was Dr Nabil Sulaiman from the University of Melbourne, Victoria.
His winning presentation was: Breathe with ease – an interactive asthma CD for GPs and trainees.

The winner of the 2002 RACGP and NAC Asthma Research Award was Professor Les Toop, head of Department and past chair of the National Preferred Medicines Centre, University of Otago, New Zealand.
His winning presentation was: A major increase in the doses of inhaled steroids used in New Zealand accompanying the introduction of fluticasone – largely to do with inhaler sizes?
