ASCIA and NAC Asthma Research Award

The Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) and National Asthma Council Australia (NAC) Asthma Research Award was created to encourage research into asthma.

Funded by the NAC to the value of $500, the award will be offered once again from 2007.

The ASCIA and NAC Asthma Research Award is awarded to the best abstract or poster presentation on asthma at the ASCIA Annual Scientific Meeting.

A panel invited by ASCIA judge the award, which is presented during the ASCIA Annual Scientific Meeting.

2007

The winner of the 2007 ASCIA and NAC Asthma Research Award was Dr Peter Vuillermin, from Geelong Hospital, Australia.

His winning presentation was: A cross-sectional comparison of anxiety symptoms among primary school children with and without asthma.

2003–2006

Award not presented.

2002

The winner of the 2002 ASCIA and NAC Asthma Research Award was Ms Leanne Gardner, CRC for Asthma scholar, Melbourne, Australia.

Her winning presentation was: Mechanism for skewing atopic donor allergen-specific T-cell cytokine production from IL-4 to IGN-γ predominant.
