Face-to-face Workshops
The workshops are tailored to meet the needs of health professionals delivering care in the primary healthcare setting, to correctly diagnose and manage patients with respiratory illness. The NAC presenters are a source of knowledge and expertise in best practice management of asthma and COPD and offer practical skills to support the use of evidence-based procedures and practices.
Workshop format
Workshops are held in conjunction with a host and attendance is free. Four topics are available and are presented by members of the NAC’s team of experts. All material is based on the Australian Asthma Handbook.
Some workshops are recognised by the RACGP and ACRRM as CPD activities.

Practice Nurse Seminar
-
Part of the National Asthma Council Australia's Asthma and Lung Health Best Practice for Professionals Program, supported by the Australian Government Department of Health.
The Asthma and Respiratory Management Seminar for Practice Nurses provides role-specific education on best-practice asthma and respiratory management for practice nurses. Starting with the principles of diagnosis and management, each session then covers current statistics, paediatric and adult asthma, allergy, medications, device technique and COPD followed by an overview of conducting spirometry in general practice.
As a new component of the Seminar in this iteration of our education program, we are offering an additional optional module, Nurse-Led Asthma & Respiratory Clinics. This module provides role specific education on creating and running asthma and respiratory clinics in general practice. Concentrating on business skills and MBS item numbers, this session will help practice nurses learn the skills necessary to run as asthma and respiratory clinic in their practice. These skills are also transferrable to other chronic diseases. This module is designed so that the Practice Manager can also attend.
Workshops are presented by health professional peer educators from our team of experts, which includes asthma and respiratory educators and practice nurses.
