National Asthma Council Australia CEO set to farewell organisation

6 Jul 2020

National Asthma Council Australia has today announced that Chief Executive Officer Siobhan Brophy will be departing the organisation after 13 years of service.

Ms Brophy has led the National Asthma Council’s strategic work in setting the standard for asthma care, including the world-leading Australian Asthma Handbook and the National Asthma Strategy, and effectively championed the organisation’s goals in improving asthma management to media and stakeholders across the sector.

Chair Dr Joanna Wriedt praised Ms Brophy for her invaluable contribution to the organisation and her integral role in its success.

“The Board sincerely thanks Siobhan for her efforts and achievements. She has provided stable and collegiate leadership as CEO and throughout her career at the NAC, fostering a positive organisational culture, driving our strategic objectives and securing continued funding from government and industry.”

Ms Brophy is leaving the NAC in a healthy position after successfully steering the organisation through the challenging times of the COVID-19 crisis. “Her actions will hold us in good stead as we move forward,” said Dr Wriedt.

Ms Brophy has been with the NAC since 2007 and was the Strategy and Communications Manager for 10 years before serving as the CEO for 3 years. She will leave at the end of July 2020.

“I am privileged to have worked with so many talented and dedicated staff members, board directors and clinical contributors, and I am proud of all we have achieved together over the past 13 years,” said Ms Brophy.

“With the updated Handbook release imminent, our COVID recovery plans initiated and major funding secured, I am now ready to seek new challenges. I wish all involved with the NAC the very best for the future.”

The NAC Board will now commence a comprehensive recruitment strategy for the organisation’s next CEO. NAC’s long-standing Operations Manager Ms Rhonda Cleveland will be the Acting CEO until an appointment is made.
