Thank Your Pharmacist Day on 26 March is a day that brings together patients, community and the health sector to acknowledge the vital work of pharmacists.
Wherever medicines are prescribed, supplied, given, or reviewed, pharmacists are there to keep Australians safe. Their varied and critical role as part of the health team includes delivering accessible care for acute illnesses, administering vaccinations, championing quality use of medicines and medicine safety in aged care, and helping patients manage chronic conditions.
The National Asthma Council Australia acknowledges the vital work done by pharmacists, particularly their commitment in supporting patients with asthma and other respiratory diseases. Pharmacists play an important role in asthma management by providing accessible care, such as checking and demonstrating inhaler technique, improving medication adherence and identifying patients that may have poor asthma control.
We’re privileged to have the valued contributions and guidance of pharmacy experts on our Guidelines Committee, Pharmacists Asthma Advisory Group and staff team.
The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia is a member body of the National Asthma Council Australia, with pharmacist representation on our board.
