Primary Health Care Nurses Day on 4 February recognises the important role that primary health care nurses play in our health system, improving the health and wellbeing of communities nationwide.
Primary health care nurses provide essential asthma care.
Primary health care nurses have an important role to play in promoting optimal asthma management so that people with asthma can live full productive lives. Primary health care incorporates personal care with health promotion, the prevention of illness and community development, includes the interconnecting principles of equity, access, empowerment, community self-determination and inter-sectoral collaboration; and encompasses an understanding of the social, economic, cultural and political determinants of health.
