Tezepelumab (Tezspire®) is now available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).

The PBS listing of Tezspire® means eligible patients aged 12 years and older can now access this advanced therapy at a significantly lower cost, helping reduce barriers to care for people whose asthma remains uncontrolled despite standard therapies.

Tezspire® helps reduce inflammation in the airways, lowering the risk of asthma attacks and helping people with severe asthma to better manage their condition.

This positive step expands access to an important treatment option for eligible patients with severe uncontrolled asthma and will contribute to reducing the burden of severe asthma, and support better health outcomes for patients and their families.

A/Prof Greg Katsoulotos, respiratory, sleep and allergy physician and National Asthma Council Guidelines Committee member was interviewed by 7NEWS Australia and said, “It's encouraging to see affordable access to advanced therapies continue to improve for Australians living with severe asthma. Timely and early referral of severe asthma patients also remains a significant priority”.
